Behind the sleepy Broga Town, known for weekend hikes up Bukit Lalang, the famous “Boyfriend’s Coconut Milkshake,” and the 140-year-old Sak Dato temple, lies a forgotten past. Latex Labyrinth explores memory, labour, and resilience through the history of Malaysian rubber plantations and the Hakka diaspora. Intertwining ancestral routines with moments of defiance and transformation, the surreal imagery and archival elements blur the lines between past and present, reflecting the endurance and fragility of those who shaped this legacy. A lament for loss and a tribute to our ancestors who toiled, the film examines the invisible scars of labour, and invites viewers to reflect on inherited stories and the connections between identity, history, and the human spirit.
